New Beginnings
I had the great honor, later during the summer of 2021, capturing some newborn moments with the same family: now a family of three!
My newborn and milestone sessions are “on location” and normally take place within the client’s home. The only criteria I need for one of these kinds of session: is a room or two within your home where you can be comfortable sitting and standing, or even laying: and one or two windows that provide some natural light.
I will pose everyone in your group who you would like in your newborn sessions in relaxed “lifestyle” type poses. Don’t worry I give you a ton of instruction and prompting, you will never be caught off guard “not knowing what to do with your hands” or “how to sit”. When it comes to “cleaning” or neutralizing your rooms or spaces we will be spending time in: Your home is lived in and no dust will show in the finished photos: so relax. If there are items that I feel will stand out in a negative way in your photos (such as a pile of folded laundry, your stack of books, a big bright colored water bottle) we will simply move them as we move around the space.
The newborn is the subject. I want to capture all the tiny details from their feet and skin texture: to how you feed and comfort your baby. I can never guarantee any poses that take another member of your family and make them the subject. A great example is if Baby is clear and facing the camera: will everyone else be also, and smiling? I will answer no.
I can will always attempt this kind of a shot. I call it the “Christmas card shot” at beginning of your session, but there are no guarantees when it comes to lifestyle photography. I am going for candid realistic shots: so in real life we might be gazing lovingly at our baby: and those are the style of images you will get when you hire me as your photographer.
This session remains one of my favorites. There is something so personal and intimate about being allowed into a families home to capture something so amazing as a newborn family member.
I block a one in an half hour shoot time for these sessions. I will normally arrive 10 minutes early to check out the layout scout the best places in your naturally lit rooms and meet your family and even your pets. Then we “go to work”.

Milestone sessions can be booked any time but for the “newborn” look pick a date about 3 weeks after your due date. I am very flexible with moving these sessions should something arise where that is necessary.
