(our story) Before.

In June of 2021 I had the privilege and honor of doing my first ever Maternity Photography session. I have always stared in awe at the beauty of these kinds of photos when I look through the social media accounts of other photographers I follow.

I find so beautiful: a woman “with child”. I myself have had the privilege to be pregnant 5 times. Each time was a unique and often challenging experience. I think back to how I was thinking and what kinds of things I was feeling right ‘before’ each of my children came into my world. It’s something I want to remember, the magnitude of the change in everything about your world is just so big: it’s impossible to describe or convey for me in words.

But with a photo.. I can look back on me, just before, and remember what it was like to anticipate and love my babies right before I saw them bodily in my arms.

This is what I wanted for this sweet couple. I wanted them to be able to look back once their baby arrived and remembered just how they were. How they were feeling, what they felt for each other, what it was like to just be “them” before Her. I hope I captured them in this light.

I hope I gave their emotions and “who they were” a visual so that they could always have it to look back on their story, Before.

Here are my favorite photos from our time together:

I think my favorite two photos of the entire gallery are the one of K & T standing on the top of the hill as it started to rain. It had threatened to rain like it always does all day, and only started to do so lightly in the last moments of our session time. I also adore the photo of K and her mom. This is her first grand baby and she is feeling all the things for her daughter and son in law and this baby she hasn’t met yet. I encourage anyone who is part of your family (fur babies also) to join you on your maternity session, it makes it that much more unique and special.

If you are expecting your first baby, or even your 3rd or 5th.. you have a story right now that will never be the same when that new life enters your world. I would be honored to capture it in a maternity session with your family.
