Aubrey & her mom knew exactly what they wanted from her senior pictures in Pittsburgh, PA—and honestly, I love when my seniors have at least some idea of the little details. Not everyone does, and that’s ok too! I will make sure I understand you feelings and the “vision” so that you love your final work!
She loves Pittsburgh. The energy, the architecture, the feel of being right in the middle of Pittsburgh. A lot of my student’s love the city vibes- but not necessarily the “Yellow Bridges at sunset! She knew she wanted something softer… something that felt cozy “and “quiet” & calmer for her sunset images.
You don’t every have to choose between the city and the natural when you book a session with me! You can have both EVERY SINGLE TIME!
We Started Strong on the Pitt Campus!
We kicked off Aubrey’s session on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh, I love this location because of the symmetric columns at the Mellon library! I also dig the park and area around the church near the Cathedral of Learning! I could spend an entire session just in this area.
The Cathedral of Learning gives you the iconic Pittsburgh feel old school and instantly recognizable. And just steps away, the Mellon Institute Columns give a soft, stone with symmetry scary that photographs so perfectly.
This part of her session night felt elevated, and nostalgic. It’s the kind of setting that creates Beautiful polished images the mama loves to hang on her walls! And my students love it too because it has that iconic Pittsburgh feeling.
Next stop.. Downtown Vibes at Mellon Square Park
From there, we headed into the heart of downtown to Mellon Square—one of my favorite city spots for senior photos!
With the Omni William Penn Hotel nearby and those classic Pittsburgh buildings surrounding the park, it gives you this perfect mix of structured city lines and pops of natural trees & landscaping. (The trees in this park turn slightly later- so it’s still beautiful and fallish late into November!)
If you’re a mom reading this and your child says they “want city photos but not the big yellow bridges,” this is exactly the kind of location I guide you toward.
Soft & Dreamy Golden hour at Sewickley Heights Park
To wrap up her session, we completely shifted the vibe & mood.
We drove north of the city to Sewickley Heights Park. This Park close to I79 is the perfect one stop shooting spot any time of year. In summer and early fall it is all wild flower grassy fields and trails!
This is the perfect place for a true field park sunset shoot.
You can go low and frolic in the tall grasses. Hit the trails to see huge fields of wild sunflowers, or head to the flats for the best “hill are alive” sunset vibe around these parts!
For soft, golden hour images & true sunset cotton candy skies this park is a vibe of its own. Aubrey had a vision of “white dress in golden sunset..” and this was perfect!
What I loved most about Aubrey’s session is how intentional we planned it out.
She didn’t try to fit into one “type” of photos into her senior session. She chose locations that reflected different sides of her personality—and trusted me to bring it all together into one epic seamless experience.
Because of your kid’s unique personality they are “just one thing”… and their senior pictures shouldn’t be either.
