Senior Photos at night in Pittsburgh.

Why Take Senior Photos at Night in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania?

I love nighttime senior portraits. They create completely different images than a traditional session. The coloration that occurs during daylight and the natural backgrounds completely shift and now it's all about light. It's about the street lights and how they glow the reflections on the payment the sparkles pittsburgh skyline that adds nostalgia and depth to taken at the best overlooks!

For the senior student that wants something stylish different and literally unforgettable night photography offers a look that cannot be replicated during the day. The results are always dramatic contrast the and stunning! I love editing these images in black-and-white.

One of the reasons that senior photos at night works so well is that here in Pittsburgh we have lots of places where we can see the beautiful architecture and the glowing city at night time.

Some of my favorite locations for nighttime senior portraits include:

Smithfield Street Bridge – one of the most recognizable bridges in Pittsburgh with beautiful lights and city backdrops.

The Village of Sewickley – charming iconic features like the Clock tower, glowing storefronts, and its  upscale evening vibe.

The Terminal in the Strip District – Old school city architecture and fluorescent lighting that creates a stylish & artsy urban feeling.

North Shore Yellow bridges – my favorite is the Roberto Clemente. You get gorgeous views of the city with its lights on, the ball park, and down river views featuring the other two bridges!

Downtown overlooks and city streets – the skyline becomes the ultimate backdrop. My favorite spot is the west end overlook. It's a little bit out-of-the-way but it's an awesome place to be after sunset.

Each location gives us a slightly different aesthetic, which means we can create a variety of portraits that feel both editorial and timeless.

For many parents the senior portrait experience is about way more than just digital images. It's about preserving your students graduation year and creating something meaningful for your memories.

When they're your favorite my night portraits often become some of the most striking pieces for your wall art collection. The dramatic lighting vibrate colors and overall modern feeling to these images is perfect for something you want to hang on your wall.

During your session planning we will talk about the overall feeling of not only the current wall art in your home, but many of the cool things we can make with your students finished images. I always design my shoots around the beautiful finish pieces you have in mind for your home.

Planning is critical especially when it comes to where you want your sunset, and if you want after dark images! Choosing to have night images add no additional fee to your session. The planning that I do with both you and your student helps me to understand what images you will truly value and then I plan our time during our session around capturing those exact images!

Adding nighttime photography is just one of the mini perks of working with me! I think these special images that you cannot fake- set portrait experience apart from the rest in Pittsburgh. I've got that night shoot down to a science and it is one of the most fun parts of being a senior photographer for me!
