MaryAnna

Over the next few weeks I have decided to blog some of my sessions for seniors from last year! The class of 2024, is truly epic. Their personalities are so varied. They took me to some new and amazingly creative spaces for their long sessions. I want to showcase some of my favorites in order to help my booked (and inquiring) Class of 2025 choose out special places and give them lots of ideas for their epic senior sessions!

So without further ado.. Ms. MaryAnna!!

When you get asked if you can shoot inside of the Natural History Museum…

… I naturally answer “HELLS YES!!” Even if I had no idea if we actually could do it. I had seen wedding photos taken within the space, and I new they let you rent it out for events such as that (FOR big bucks!!) I know the space and had taken photos inside with an iphone. I really didn’t know the rule or if we would have to pay a particular fee. I do know ALL of this now so, if you want your 180.Senior shoot here: LET’S DO IT!!

Some little details:

Lighting. I knew I would need to use supplemental lighting in the museum in at least some of the spaces. I use flash during ALL of my sessions. I’m into controlling the light when I shoot and most of the time what’s “naturally available” isn’t enough in quantity or quality…

Access & Timing. What’s allowed and what’s NOT allowed. What “hour” do I plan our session time, and what days work for this type of shoot. (This was an area where I was schooled heavily on.)

Permission. Where are you allowed to shoot? Are you allowed to have works of art within your photos? Are there copyright laws I have to worry about? Do they charge you extra if you walk into the space with an expense camera set up? I’d be happy to answer all of these questions in the comments below.

And if the hour inside of the museum wasn’t enough..

..We headed to Phipps and captured the sunset right at the perfect time around the front outside gardens!!

..and because 180.Senior Sessions are 3 hours long we even had time for some “after dark” shots in the Strip District!

If you would like more information about these locations and all the services I offer for Senior’s during their EPIC SENIOR YEAR, leave me a comment below! If you are interested in booking me for your senior photography session this year, fill out a contact form and let’s plan the perfect senior photo shoot for you! -Heidi
